When times are like these, special people do special things to help their community. They become heroes and most are unsung. On a corner store on Mack Avenue, where you find a little piece of Italy, you'll also find Licavoli's Market, owned by Phil Licavoli.
"We are so grateful for a deep rooted clientele. We are making the best of the situation, keeping our employees working, and sticking together with other restaurants on Mack so we can all help each other."
In addition to putting food together for the nurses and doctors in Grosse Pointe hospitals who are on the front lines, Phil and Jill support a local family who have a battle against cancer for their son.
"As long as I am around they will never worry about food," says Phil.
Modesty is only one word to describe Phil's character, Hard worker would be another.
Every day, Phil and Jill are at Licavoli's Market preparing homemade brick oven pizzas, an assortment of economically priced pre-made Italian meals, and keeping their market stocked with Italian style groceries. Catering is available.
