The Carlstone Apartments, a 55-plus senior independent living community in Norman, may continue to be one of Cleveland County’s best-kept secrets for a little while longer, but don’t count on it.
The Carlstone features one- and two-bedroom apartments (including handicap-accessible units), each featuring spacious layouts, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, walk-in showers and other amenities. As a bonus, the apartments are located close to shopping, dining and entertainment. But that’s only the beginning: ever-evolving amenities and exceptional service place The Carlstone on a level few other senior communities in the state can even approach.
Other amenities include: multiple activity rooms, a game and movie room, elevators, weekly activities, valet trash service, shuttle services, a beauty/barber shop, and a full-service restaurant.
Interested, but own a pet? Small dogs are allowed at The Carlstone.
Judy Ernst, who you read about in our April “Behind-the-Scenes Stars” spotlight, is one of the key drivers behind the community’s ongoing successes. Known for her warm and caring personality and keen attention to detail, her day-to-day involvement allows her to gauge residents’ satisfaction and solicit their feedback.

The residents’ reaction to these initiatives have been very positive, Judy says, noting that residents have told her they feel good about the opportunities the community provides for them to improve both their physical and mental health and enhanced opportunities for socializing. Additionally, plans are in the works to add a dog park and a community garden.
