Becky Smith, a native of Brentwood recalls watching her mother decorate home after home every time her father, a contractor, would build a new house and move their family into it. That’s where her decorating roots were planted. She too would marry a contractor and go on to make a name for herself as an interior designer while living in South Carolina. By word of mouth, Becky went from giving her husband’s clients decorating tips to providing interior design services to the likes of Southern Living Home builders and being featured in Charleston Home + Design Magazine

The Linen Duck opened in 2018 and has been a place where you can shop for furniture, receive interior design services, or just drop in to find something pretty to wear. Just through the front door, you’ll find yourself in the boutique storefront full of beautiful apparel and accessories that precede the chic style you’ll find as you make your way deeper into the store. When it comes to furniture, Becky’s transitional style is fresh and bright as well as warm and welcoming. Sleek, modern pieces live next to classic, traditional pieces. The Linen Duck has a wide range of upholstery options available for purchase right from the store, or clients may customize, by picking from hundreds of fabrics and leather options.

Currently, they have a range of sophisticated single bench seat sofas available in various fabrics and styles. Adjacent to one, you might find an exquisite American Empire chest crafted from intricately carved cherry and tiger maple wood. “We take pride in offering items that cater to the unique preferences and lifestyles of our esteemed customers,” says Becky. She likes to encourage clients to think outside of the box and be open to something they might not normally choose. “That’s what gives you your unique design – different from everyone else’s.” From custom furniture and upholstery to lighting, rugs and wall décor that you may buy off the showroom floor, the options are endless at The Linen Duck.

With the holidays approaching, The Linen Duck is already getting in the swing of things. Becky says she is thankful for the opportunity to now work with her mother who accounts for so much of her inspiration, and the luxury of consulting her husband whom she calls a “wealth of knowledge in her own home” when pondering business matters. She’s also thankful for Columbia, the little town The Linen Duck calls home. “I love that the town’s growing and am excited that it has embraced new people,” said Becky. “A lot of things are happening and the town seems to be interested in growth and improvement.”  TheLinenDuck.com
