WINTER PLAYTIME

Chillin' Out By Land & By Sea

Howl at the Moon

Should we be lucky to have a blanket of white on our shores and a clear night, a moonlit snowshoe or cross-country ski around Odiorne Point provides a beautiful and peaceful backdrop to reflect on the new year. The January full moon, also known as the wolf moon, appears on the 25th.

Friday Night Ice

Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond is our own Rockefeller Center. The stage is set for a Norman Rockwell moment to wow your first date or tire out the kids for bedtime. Your traditional New England outdoor ice skating experience caps off, cozying up by the fire pit with mugs of tasty hot cocoa.

Take a Snowy Spin

There is no reason to stow your bike away. With milder seacoast winters, there are plenty of trails to explore all winter long. And if there is a fresh dumping of snow, take a spin on a fat bike. Head out to Stratham Hill Park for a snow day adventure with family and friends.

Paddle Out

Who says paddleboarding has to stop when temperatures start to drop? Winter paddling opens up opportunities to continue exploring our waterways and wildlife and keeping that New Year’s resolution to stay fit. Of course, you’ll need to invest in the right gear, but our local surf shops have that covered.

Aprés Surf Anyone?

If the Farmers’ Almanac is on point, we are in for a snowy winter. Skiers, consider holding off on upgrading your performance layers and invest in some winter-weight neoprene to take advantage of big winter swells. The Atlantic is a shorter drive with no lift lines, and you can still enjoy aprés with a view.

Try a Plunge

Dark winter days are ideal for snuggling up with a book and a steaming beverage. This simple pleasure is even better after a breath-stealing plunge with friends in the Atlantic. For seacoast dwellers, this wellness trend couldn’t be easier. Pack up a hefty robe and hop in the car for a heart-pumping dip.
