What brought you to Arizona?

“We're originally from Staten Island, NY. My wife was tired of the cold and we loved Arizona. It's a short drive to Vegas and the beaches in San Diego, and if we want snow, it's just two hours north! We love North Peoria because of Lake Pleasant—we enjoy boating and fishing there.”

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

“I love making pizzas for my friends and family. We use fresh ingredients from my wife's garden. For the Super Bowl, I made over 50 pizzas for friends and family.”

“I just like the problem-solving aspect of it. I enjoy figuring out the right solutions.”

What do you like to do for fun?

“Family time is everything. I have a wife and a 14-year-old daughter, and I enjoy spending time at home with them.”

MATTHEW NICHOLS, DO

Occupation: Owner, F45 Training and Emergency Room Doctor

Dr. Nichols has truly mastered the art of wearing many hats. A cancer diagnosis as a teenager inspired him to pursue a medical career. Not only is Dr. Nichols an ER doctor, rotating between the Honor Health Scottsdale campuses, but he is also the Medical Director for the Scottsdale Fire Department and the Army Reserves EMS. Opening F45 Fitness in Peoria is his latest venture that keeps him closer to home.

With such a busy medical career, why did you open F45?
“F45 started in Australia and is the fastest-growing fitness franchise. I've always wanted to own my own business, and I loved this model, so it made sense because I'm interested in health and fitness.”

What do you do for fun?

“I have two daughters, so I like spending time with them. I also teach jiu-jitsu and coach soccer for Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV).”

I own a nice boat, so I go to the lake often. I have a cabin in Williams that sits on Cataract Lake, and I enjoy my condo on the beach in Rocky Point. I have three children—Gianna is 13, and twin boys Vincent and Anthony are 11.

What vehicles do you drive?

I currently own and drive a BMW I8, a fully custom GMC Denali 3500 and a Chopper. I have a 2023 Lamborghini on order.
