The Allen Police Association: Advocating for First Responders and Community Welfare

With a profound sense of pride and gratitude, the Allen Police Department, under the auspices of the Allen Police Association (APA), diligently serves the Allen community. From seasoned sergeants to dedicated officers, esteemed veterans, and invaluable support personnel, they form a unified front, steadfast in their mission to safeguard the rights and safety of Allen residents and businesses. Their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property epitomizes their dedication.

The APA places a paramount emphasis on community well-being. Officers, alongside their families, collaborate with the APA to actively participate in charitable endeavors. Through a myriad of outreach programs and volunteer initiatives, they strive to enrich and uplift the welfare of our community.

Recently, the APA has embraced the Texas Meet and Confer Law, a pivotal step towards empowering its members in negotiating benefits for first responders. Serving as the collective voice for firefighters and police officers, the APA undertakes the responsibility of engaging in negotiations with the municipality. These negotiations encompass a spectrum of employment terms, including wages, benefits, and working conditions.

To facilitate effective communication and address the evolving needs of its officers, the APA conducts quarterly meetings. These off-site gatherings provide a conducive environment for open and candid discussions, ensuring all shift officers have the opportunity to participate. During these sessions, officers have the platform to raise pertinent topics for discussion with the chief or inclusion in future Meet and Confer contracts.

One of the APA's notable advantages lies in its direct access to the chief of police. Since assuming office on February 2, 2024, Chief Steve Dye has wholeheartedly supported the APA's endeavors. With an unwavering commitment to transparency and responsiveness, Chief Dye readily lends his ear to the concerns brought forth by the APA. This direct channel of communication allows for timely resolution of issues, bypassing traditional hierarchical structures.

Officer Dillon Egizi shared that "The Allen Police Association enjoys serving our community and supporting our fellow hardworking officers. The Allen Police Department is committed to keeping our citizens safe. We will continue to work with city leadership to keep a positive and productive environment."

The Allen Police Association stands as an advocate for first responders and a beacon of community service. Through its unwavering dedication, collaborative spirit, and proactive initiatives, the APA embodies the essence of service, compassion, and unity, ensuring the safety and well-being of both its members and the community they serve.
