Speakeasy Sanctuary

Three 11 Interiors designs a spectacular space for VIPs.

Step back in time to an era of gatherings, jazz-filled nights, and hidden indulgences. Local interior design firm Three 11 Interiors and Storybook Builders' latest project takes inspiration from the vibrant spirit of 1920s Chicago and brings it to life in a modern-day speakeasy like no other, where the roaring twenties meets contemporary design.

The speakeasy-inspired basement features authentic details with low lighting that casts a warm glow on the paneled walls and a subtle scent of aged wood and whiskey that lingers in the air. Every element has been carefully curated to evoke the essence of a 1920s Chicago speakeasy.

"While staying true to the era's aesthetic, we've added an industrial twist to elevate the design. Antique gold accents, vintage-inspired light fixtures and mural, along with walls adorned in millwork are combined with rich, dark woods and luxurious fabrics," says Leigh Nicholson, interior designer and owner of Three 11 Interiors. "The contrast between the raw, industrial elements and the refined elegance of the 1920s creates a captivating visual experience."

No speakeasy is complete without a stunning bar. This design features a custom-made bar crafted from stained wood and leathered quartz, adorned with brass accents and banker wire. The bar serves as a focal point with the whimsical conversation piece, "Frankie the deer."

Intimate seating areas, draped in velvet and leather, provide a comfortable sanctuary to unwind. Plush seating, art deco-inspired furnishings, and vintage-inspired décor pieces add a touch of glamour and opulence. Each seating area is carefully designed to evoke a sense of exclusivity.
