This month, we proudly celebrate Cristina Cedillo, an eighth grader at Bowman Middle School, as our distinguished Student of the Month. Christina was nominated by one of her teachers for exhibiting a strong work ethic, academic excellence, and a genuine commitment to uplifting her peers through leadership and positive influence.

Within and beyond the school community, Cristina is an active participant in student organizations, including the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, National Junior Honor Society and Choir. Besides her engagement in the school choir, she extends her artistic pursuits to acting, singing, and dancing productions, sharing her passion for the stage with others. Dreaming big, Cristina aspires to attend NYU, driven by her love for performance.

Acknowledging the complexities of modern school life and applying the skills acquired in the AVID program, she advocates for using planners to manage the increased workload effectively. This pragmatic approach ensures meticulous organization of plans, assignments, and activities. Rather than letting obstacles impede her progress, she confronts them head-on, seizing every opportunity to learn, grow, and develop. Her commitment to self-improvement serves as a beacon, inspiring those around her to set ambitious goals, embrace new experiences, and maintain a positive mindset.

Cristina's dedication to academic excellence is evident in her strategic study habits. Actively seeking teacher feedback, participating in class discussions, and taking meticulous notes contribute to her high academic performance. Daily rituals, such as completing assignments, reviewing lessons with notecards, and proactive preparation for the next day, underscore her disciplined approach.

Ms. Cedillo's multifaceted pursuits—artistically, academically, and individually—reveal an ambitious young woman whose enthusiasm for life serves as an inspiration for others. Cristina Cedillo's journey is not just one of academic achievement but a story of resilience, passion, and a future brimming with possibilities.
