Investing in high-quality furniture and mattresses that are built to last is not something to take lightly. While shopping for home essentials online may seem like the easiest option, Middle Tennessee locals have access to a trusted, family-owned alternative. B.F. Myers Furniture & Mattress offers two convenient locations in Franklin and Goodlettsville, free delivery, customizable furniture, exceptional quality, and a strong commitment to giving back, making it a true one-stop shop for transforming a house into a home.
With a legacy spanning 171 years, B.F. Myers stands as one of Tennessee’s oldest family-owned furniture retailers. Founded by the Myers family and now operated by the Erwin family, the company continues to uphold the same commitment to exceptional service and craftsmanship that has defined it for generations. Today, Julianne Goodwin represents the third generation of the Erwin family to help lead B.F. Myers, carrying forward its longstanding tradition of quality and care.
“I think the biggest thing for us is customer service,” Julianne explains. “Especially now in the world of buying online and no real interface with people, it's how you treat the customers when they come into the store that keeps them coming back. Making sure that we treat everyone like family is the biggest thing.”
Between B.F. Myers’ 60,000-square-foot showroom in Goodlettsville and its 40,000-square-foot location in Franklin, there is virtually no type of furniture or mattress they can’t offer or customize. As Middle Tennessee continues to experience rapid growth, many newcomers and longtime residents alike have turned to B.F. Myers for both convenience and selection. The company also offers free delivery within a 50-mile radius of either store, and in 2025 reached a new milestone by delivering to customers in seven different states. Today, B.F. Myers carries nearly 100 brands, with approximately 80 percent of its products available for customization.
Both locations feature design centers where customers can customize upholstery selections and utilize a room planner experience. Each showroom has an in-house designer available to guide clients through the custom design process, helping them visualize how each piece will fit and function within their home. Whether through an in-home visit to measure the space or by working with measurements provided by the client, B.F. Myers ensures customers can confidently envision their furniture before making a purchase.
Customization is at the heart of what makes a house feel truly personal, and B.F. Myers’ design process is built around that philosophy. With every family living differently, the ability to special order and tailor pieces ensures each space reflects the needs, routines, and lifestyle of the people who use it.
“What you need for your family might be different than what I need for my family,” Julianne explains. “So the design center gives people an option to truly customize for their own life.”
With endless customization options, B.F. Myers makes transforming any house into a home both seamless and personal. The remaining question, then, is how do you know what type of furniture you should be investing in?
“To me, it's where you spend most of your time,” she says. “If you’re going to be in your living room, invest in a sectional. If you hang out in the kitchen, invest in a dining table.”
Furniture has the power to completely shift the tone of a space. In recent years, design trends have moved away from cooler palettes in favor of warmer tones that create a more inviting, lived-in feel. Combined with thoughtful paint choices, the right furniture can transform an entire room, turning it into something both functional and emotionally grounding.
“You could see a blank canvas, and you blink, and it looks like a totally different room,” Juli explains. “I think that same idea of the warmth that can just really make you feel like it's not a place that you just go and walk in and take your shoes off at the end of the day. It's where you relax and where you make memories with your family, but the furniture is the base of it.”
Most recently, B.F. Myers utilized its BFM Cares initiative to partner with the United Service Organizations (USO), helping furnish the BNA Airport Lounge to create a welcoming, comfortable space for service members and their families. Through BFM Cares, the company consistently gives back to the community in meaningful ways, from donating more than $20,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness and research, to supporting local schools through community events. The initiative has also packed dozens of boxes for Operation Christmas Child and contributed hundreds of dollars toward teachers’ Amazon wish lists, further reinforcing B.F. Myers’ commitment to serving the communities it calls home.
B.F. Myers is built on generations of care, proving that when you walk through their doors, you’re not just a customer, you’re family.
