5 Reasons to Love Dottie’s Speakeasy at Southall

Tucked away in a secret corner on the grounds of Southall Farm & Inn, Dottie’s Speakeasy offers a night out that feels a little more like a secret discovery. Officially opened in May 2024 and located inside an unassuming house overlooking the property, the intimate hideaway blends craft cocktails, live music, and plenty of old-school charm.

Access begins at January, the property’s signature restaurant, where select diners are discreetly granted a card with instructions for entry. When Dottie’s is open, guests quite literally follow the green light, tracing a path of glowing green lights across the farm to discover the hidden bar.

Dottie's has always been "open" to the public with a ticket for live music, but these new offerings are the first time outside guests can book specific culinary experiences aside from attending after dining at January.

1. The Secret-Spot Feeling
Part of the fun is finding it. Follow the path to the hilltop house and look for the green light signaling that Dottie’s is open. The tucked-away setting gives the evening an exclusive, if-you-know-you-know feel.

2. The Decor
Leather seating, antique furnishings, framed artwork, vintage-inspired details, and eclectic collections create a richly layered atmosphere made for lingering. The property describes the space as a nod to the glamour and intrigue of classic American speakeasies, paying homage to the Roaring Twenties in an intimate ambiance.

3. Creative Cocktails
The drinks are a destination of their own. Dottie’s serves handcrafted cocktails with unexpected ingredients and playful presentations, including riffs on classics and creations inspired by Southall’s seasonal ingredients. Tiny 'Tini Tuesdays are part of new weekly programming where guests can explore a rotating selection of mini martinis.

4. Live Music
On select nights, cocktails come with a soundtrack. Dottie’s regularly features live music from local musicians, creating an intimate setting for enjoying everything from familiar tunes to unplugged sets. On Fridays & Saturdays, guests can spend the evening with resident musician Mike Godwin as he fills Dottie's with a mix of soulful favorites, familiar classics, and laid-back acoustic performances.

5. There’s Always Something New
Dottie’s new programming gives guests a reason to keep coming back. In addition to Tuesday’s Tiny 'Tinis, Dottie's offers Wednesday educational tastings of wine, bourbon or tequila; Thursday champagne and caviar service; and weekend live music. Each offers a different way to settle in, find your favorite corner, and let the night unfold.
