For Nic Stevens, gratitude is more than a November theme. It is part of how each day begins at The Maids.
“Begin with gratitude” is a rule Stevens, general manager for five years, tries to live by. At the Rosemount location, which serves Eagan and the south metro, that means thanking employees for showing up, working hard, and caring for customers’ homes.
It also means recognizing the people who make that work possible.
“Anyone who owns or manages a small business knows every returning customer is someone to be thankful for,” Stevens says. “They support our business. They give our company the chance to provide jobs and reliable income to our employees.”
That appreciation became especially personal earlier this year. During difficult months for many service-industry workers and their families, customers responded with flexibility and generosity. Nearly every customer joined a flexible scheduling list. Some brought breakfast and lunch groceries for cleaning teams. Others sent notes of encouragement that Stevens posted in the office for employees to read.
“I am so thankful for that,” he says. “Yes, we are fantastic cleaners, but that would mean little without an amazing team and wonderful customers.”
A Little Less Holiday Stress
That same sense of care carries into the holiday season. “Everyone’s schedules fill up fast, and homeowners often feel pressure to get everything done at once,” Stevens says.
And so, he recommends taking a simpler approach. Do one thing a day. Clean one room, one space, or one area at a time. “During the fall, we take on a different pace in life,” he says. “It is always a gift to accomplish things without overwhelming ourselves.”
For those who would rather hand off some of the work, The Maids offers recurring cleaning, one-time holiday cleaning, move-in and move-out cleaning, and holiday touch-up visits for recurring customers. Cleaning plans are personalized to each home, schedule, and household.
After 20 years in business, Stevens says the company’s success still comes back to their employees and customers.
