Dr. Christina Bradford been a principal for 13 years, with 10 of those in Rockwall—two as an assistant principal and eight as a principal. She was recently selected by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as the Region 10 Middle School Principal of the Year. School administrators are nominated based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership and chosen by their peers within their regions.

Why did you become a principal?

I became a principal because the role allowed me to combine my passion for coaching students and coaching teachers. I genuinely enjoy serving others, collaborating to find meaningful solutions, and creating a safe, supportive culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to grow. Most importantly, I find purpose in helping all staff and students succeed everyday by becoming a better version of themselves.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My absolute favorite part of the job is witnessing a student make a positive change because of the support, encouragement, and belief of a staff member. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing an educator make a meaningful impact in a student’s life and watching that student grow, gain confidence, and realize their potential. I also love witnessing a staff member transfer their passion and enthusiasm for their subject to their students. I’m not an expert on every subject on my campus, but I strive to become an expert of the people on my campus by learning what they need to grow.

What do you do outside of school to rest and recharge?

One of the things I enjoy most is spending time with my family. Some of the best days of my life are the ones spent with my four children and my parents. Being together fills my cup. We laugh, enjoy good food, tell good stories, and simply have fun. I also find peace in sitting outside in the evenings, quietly watching the sun go down. It is a powerful form of therapy for me. Those quiet moments allow me to reflect on my day, think about what I could have done better, and celebrate the positive moments of my day. That combination of family, reflection, and gratitude helps me return each day refreshed and ready to serve others.
