Feed The City began in Dallas, Texas in 2015, after setting a Guinness World Record for the Most People Making Sandwiches Simultaneously, and then became a monthly event where volunteers of all ages come together to fight hunger. Each Saturday provides volunteers the opportunity to gather at a local venue to work together to pack meals for those in need. Since its launch, over 1,900 events across five countries, eighteen states, and 73 cities have welcomed 100,000 volunteers, providing more than 7.6 MILLION meals.
Feed the City Celina was founded in 2023 by Nick Marino, Jr., and Ashley Denk and is now facilitated by Chelle Cates. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month at Rollertown Beerworks in Celina’s Entertainment District and assembles the supplies volunteers provide to create a meal consisting of a sandwich, chips, and fruit. Regular volunteer groups like Young Men’s Service League and National Charity League contribute to the 1,000 meals made per month that are distributed to Grace Bridge Food Bank and Denton’s Freedom House.
Feed the City events are supported by families, friends, schools, and organizations with the goal of creating hope, one meal at a time. Volunteers of all ages can make an impact by joining Chelle and her team at an in-person event or packing snacks at home and dropping them off for distribution. Sandwiches are made on-site, while snack bags containing water, fruit, a protein, and a granola bar can be assembled at home. Each on-site volunteer is asked to bring enough supplies for 25-30 meals.
Feed the City's monthly events take an active role in the fight against hunger and make a tangible impact in the Celina community. To register as a volunteer, drop off supplies or snack bags, make a financial donation, or for more information, visit tangocharities.org/feed-the-city-celina.
