Fisher House: Serving Veterans’ Families

Providing comfort, lodging, and hope for military families

The Gainesville Fisher House stands as a beacon of gratitude and comfort for military families. Located on the campus of the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, this 20-suite residence provides no-cost lodging to families of veterans and active-duty service members receiving medical care. Rather than worrying about hotel bills or long commutes, families are welcomed into a supportive, homelike environment where they can remain together during times of healing.

Each suite includes a private bedroom and bath, while common areas—such as a full kitchen, dining room, laundry facilities, and living spaces—offer both comfort and connection. This design fosters community among families who share the unique bond of service and sacrifice. Since its opening, the Gainesville Fisher House has served thousands, saving families millions in lodging and travel expenses. More importantly, it has given them the priceless gift of presence—being close when it matters most.

As one of more than 90 Fisher Houses worldwide, the Gainesville location serves as a local testament to gratitude and care. In this season of thankfulness, it reminds us that supporting our veterans also means caring for the families who stand faithfully beside them.
