This issue is full of fun and celebration! The holidays truly are a magical time of year. I feel like even though it can be a stressful time, there are plenty of laughs and good memories made throughout the holiday season.
Growing up in a household where we celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas, I felt like the whole month was filled with parties and celebrations. We would have a tea party with my Nanny every holiday season. Fancy dresses, a real fine china tea set, mini tea sandwiches, and of course petit fours were all part of the celebration. My sister and I even got to put two sugar cubes in our tea.
My Jewish grandparents would always host the first night of Hanukkah. We would eat the most delicious pot roast (that I have yet to master), noodle kugel, and more. We would of course play dreidel, and I’m pretty sure I would reward myself with each piece of gelt I won. Let’s just say the games never lasted that long.
'Tis the Season to give, and this issue has some great gift-giving ideas, from extravagant meals followed by a day at the spa or the gift of time and helping those in need.
Family traditions, new and old, can start from anywhere. It’s about the memories we make, the impressions we leave on those around us, and enjoying Scottsdale’s most beautiful time of year.
Happy holidays!
