Gratitude in Action:

Frederick J. Levy II and “Try New Things”

For Roswell businessman Frederick J. Levy II, gratitude is more than a feeling, it’s a call to action. The mentors who guided him as a teenager left a lasting mark, and today he’s paying it forward through Try New Things, a mentorship program he founded to help middle and high school boys in Roswell and North Fulton grow into confident, community minded young men.

“I have always believed that young men need positive examples and intentional guidance to help them find their way,” Levy says. “Especially through exposure to new things, volunteering in the community, increased awareness of courtesy and nobility in the way they go about their lives.”

What began with two dads mentoring their sons and a small group of friends has become an intentional program. “I realized that the impact could extend far beyond our own families,” he recalls.

The mission is clear: build character and leadership skills through new experiences and service above self. “We focus on life skills that aren’t always taught in school: confidence, etiquette, professional communication, and responsibility,” Levy explains. “We also emphasize trying new things through golf outings, camping trips, and volunteering. To spark curiosity, build resilience, and broaden their sense of what is possible.”

Levy knows the value of role models, he had several. “These men, business leaders and active community volunteers took me under their wing, introducing me to the outdoors, modeling discipline, and showing what service to others truly means.”

His advice to every young man? “Stay curious and willing to Try New Things. The skills and relationships you build while exploring unfamiliar experiences often become the foundation for future success.”

Community members can help by volunteering, sharing professional expertise, or hosting skill-building opportunities.
