“You can’t force it,” he says, “but it's easier to distract the kids if the parents are not in view."
Never call it a cut.
Kids are literal and a “haircut” sounds dangerous. A simple switch in language can make a big difference.
“Why would a kid ever want to go do something that sounds like it’s going to hurt?” asks Kenji. “The word ‘cut’ infers pain. I insist parents call it a ‘trim’ instead.”
