Innovating For Mental Health

Robin Glenn of Lone Tree Continues Transforming Lives Through Work In Therapy and Entrepreneurship

Robin Glenn has spent most of her career as a therapist innovating and building scalable curriculum in education. Despite an impressive resume that includes descriptors such as tech founder, entrepreneur and mental health innovator, the heart behind what Robin does every day is motivated by one thing: improving the lives of as many kids as possible.

Tell us a little of your background, your work in therapy, and how you ended up building a mental-health tech company. 

I live in Lone Tree with my husband and two kids, and we’ve called this community home for 15 years. Before I ever imagined building a tech company, I worked in Douglas County Schools and private practice as a clinical therapist, supporting students facing anxiety, depression, anger, stress, self-harm and substance misuse. I saw the same struggles appear across settings, and I watched educators try to handle difficult topics they were never trained to address. A math teacher shouldn’t have to lead a conversation about harm prevention without support.

I began sharing the curricula I had created, but the need grew faster than I could keep up. With encouragement from my husband, a tech executive, and the talent of my future co-founder, Highlands Ranch resident Mac Angell, we built BASE Education. It began as Behavioral Alternatives for Suspension and Expulsion, but soon became a preventative program for all students.

On our go-live date for BASE, we helped two students in critical situations, and within months districts reported that BASE had a direct impact on school safety, engagement, attendance, and GPA. The platform paired evidence-based mental health content with assessments, reporting, and our Fireword algorithm, which alerted adults to potentially harmful language students typed or deleted. In 2023 we sold BASE to 7 Mindsets so it could expand nationwide.

The funny thing is that most therapists are brick-and-mortar-based or offer virtual sessions, which cover the typical extent of innovation — I was no different.  I've always been entrepreneurial; having invented a baby product in 2008, I like pushing the limits and being uncomfortable.  I am continually coming up with ideas on how to scale, create efficiencies, or disrupt industries. BASE was no exception.  I had no business tackling a tech startup; I was a therapist!  The adage, "Leap and the net will appear," is so true.  If your heart is in the right place, your passion intact, and you trust yourself implicitly, you will not fall. 

Tell us the heart behind everything you do, your “why.”

At the heart of my work is a simple philosophy: when we follow our true north, which is helping kids and partners grow, we will not fail. My background as a clinician shaped every product decision, and my curiosity and desire to scale support systems guided our innovation. Building BASE taught me that people want to be supported, appreciated, and understood. Leading a team that rallied behind that mission was an honor.

After selling BASE Education, what’s next for you? 

Next, I’m developing a modern mental wellness center that blends therapy with experiential, science-backed modalities such as neurofeedback, red light therapy, biofeedback, VR mindfulness, and rhythmic entrainment. Clients move through a sequence that supports the mind and the body, followed by an integration session with a therapist. This model grew from my daughter’s complex pain journey and the realization that many teens need a different path to healing. My vision is to open centers in multiple cities and create smaller “labs” in universities and boarding schools to support student well-being and retention.
