The Wick Gives Back To The Community They Are Thankful For

It has been just over a year since Kim and her husband, Cleve Wickliffe, opened The Wick on Colorado Street in Celina. In that time, their love and commitment to the community have grown, as they work to give back to the community that has given them so much. The Wick has become a vibrant hub bringing the community together and fostering a sense of belonging.

Kim and Cleve started their business by hosting pop-up stores with Annie Jack Boutique, as well as participating in Friday Night Markets and events on the square, all the while searching for and finding the perfect location to establish their passion project, The Wick. If you are driving through town, don't miss this cute little black house with the most inviting front porch.

After living in Frisco for more than 20 years, they realized they knew maybe two of their neighbors. They wanted to live somewhere they knew their neighbors and could invest themselves in the community. Kim has long been a volunteer for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and United Way campaigns through her corporate career, but volunteering and giving back in Celina feels more personal.

Kim is a member of the Celina Downtown Commission. This organization supports the city council and gives back to, as well as encourages, the growth of businesses on the square. Their mission is to raise money and help with the events and activities on the downtown square. One of Kim's favorite projects has been to refresh and update the Christmas lights in downtown and host discounted carriage rides around the neighboring areas.

Kim is also a member of the Celina Chamber organization, Celina Ladies of Influence (CLOI), which hosts events such as the annual Style Show to raise funds for scholarships for students of Celina ISD.

Each month, The Wick hosts "Bingo, Burros and Bites" on the third Thursday. Forty tickets are sold each month, and the proceeds support Donkey and Equine Haven USA.

Cleve and Kim have been sponsors of the Celina High School Football team, the Las Gatitas dance team, the Celina Bobcat Band, and numerous organizations that support the district's schools. Their generous support is a testament to their commitment to local education. They were the first business to sign up for the Celina ISD employee perks program, offering a 15% discount to district teachers and staff.

With the holidays quickly coming, The Wick sponsors the Hot Cocoa Bar at the local Toys for Tots campaign. The Wick is also the hospitality hub for the Holiday Gift Tour, a fundraiser that supports local charities. It is hard to attend an event in Celina that you do not see Kim and Cleve actively involved. They live locally, shop locally, and serve locally, encouraging all Celina citizens to do the same.

This month and next, remember to come to The Wick to celebrate your holidays. Of course, they will continue Bingo, Burros, and Bites monthly, as well as the monthly Mahjong tournament, which will run in both November and December. You can also look forward to their second annual Character Breakfast with Mickey and Minnie, and join them afterward for a Hot Cocoa Bar in celebration of National Hot Chocolate Day on Saturday, December 13th. And don't forget to support their business on Small Business Saturday, November 29th.

Kim shared, "Celina is our home & the home of The Wick. We are deeply rooted in the community and could not imagine a better place! Don't forget our all-day brunch on Saturdays and Sundays! Our innovative twists on classic dishes promise a unique and exciting dining experience for all our patrons." And new this year, shortcut your holiday cooking by ordering sides for your holiday meals and their classic cinnamon rolls for that special breakfast.
