Pretty in Pink tastes like the iced, grownup version of strawberry shortcake —
buttery and warm from the brownbutter vanilla espresso, topped with a light, airy
strawberry cold foam that brings that freshfruit sweetness.
It’s creamy without being heavy, sweet without being sugary, and it finishes with
that soft, nostalgic strawberry lift.
A little dessert energy, a lot of everyday comfort.
You’ll need:
1 Tablespoon browned butter
2 shots of Talking Crow espresso (we used single origin decaf Mexico)
½ - 1 ounce of vanilla simple syrup
3 Tablespoon heavy whipping cream
2 Tablespoons milk
1 Tablespoon sugar
Dehydrated strawberries (crushed to powder to make ½ teaspoon)
Start by browning some good butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until
the butter is brown.
Brew your espresso shots and pour them along with the brown butter into a
small vessel. Whisk with a milk-frother until completely emulsified. Let it cool
slightly.
Fill your favorite 10 oz glass with ice.
Add the brown butter/espresso.
Add the vanilla simple syrup.
Make your strawberry cold foam by combining the heavy whipping cream, milk,
sugar and dehydrated strawberry powder. Mix with a milk frother until double in
size and thickened, but still pourable.
Top the drink with the strawberry cold foam and a tiny sprinkle of the strawberry
powder.
Sip and enjoy!
Homemade Vanilla Simple Syrup (so easy, so delicious, and just pennies)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste *
Mix together in a saucepan over medium-low heat and stir until dissolved. Let it
sit to cool and flavors marry. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
*if using vanilla extract, add it after the sugar has dissolved and you have
removed it from heat.
Shortly after starting her roasting journey, Carol was diagnosed with extreme adrenal fatigue and ordered to give up caffeine. Switching to decaf felt like a compromise she wasn't willing to make. That’s when she and Eric decided to pivot, focusing on roasting decaf that tastes amazing and satisfies just like regular coffee. It was in that moment that Talking Crow truly began.
