Studio Ours is a haven for creators, shoppers, and students.

The 2,000 square foot maker space/market in Chattanooga’s Turnbull Building opened in October 2025. It houses a gift shop featuring artist-made goods from nearly 40 local and out-of-town vendors, enabling potential customers to see a creator’s work in person year-round—even if they don’t have a brick-and-mortar store.

A classroom used for teaching crafts, co-working, and even DnD nights is incorporated within the space and the building’s second floor is rented for yoga classes and weddings. This month, it will house Chattanooga’s yearly Galentine’s event – a large vendor market – prominently featuring artists from Studio Ours.

The business is owned by Hixon native Christina Sok, whose family owns the building. A graphic design major at UT-K, Christina started her own design agency before choosing screen printing as her main form of artistic revenue. Christina and another artist, Elizabeth “Lissie” Gaffney, bonded while discussing the challenges of being market vendors and, over a glass of wine, the pair envisioned Studio Ours where creators can sell and teach others their craft.

When asked what she finds most rewarding about the venture, Christina said, “Some people say they have no creative bone in their body, but something draws them to come back here. At the end of the day, that makes it worth it for me.”

“Makers in other spots worry about losing their space in the store if they don’t sell enough. I don’t want them to feel that way at all. Instead, I’ll say, ‘Hey, your items didn’t sell this month. Let me know how I can help you get more sales.’”
