Michael Hardy—also known as country rock artist HARDY—may be known for his impressive catalog as an artist and songwriter, but behind the scenes, he's equally passionate about using his platform to give back. Together with his wife, Caleigh, the pair have made impact a priority through The Hardy Fund, philanthropic efforts, and a commitment to supporting others beyond the stage. From kicking off CMA Fest with Trend Management—the influencer talent company where Caleigh is signed—to sharing life at home and on the road as parents to their one-year-old daughter, Rosie, the Hardys continue to balance career, family, and purpose.
What first inspired you to start The Hardy Fund, and when did you realize this was something you wanted to build into a lasting part of your legacy?
Creating something like The Hardy Fund was always the dream! We have always hoped for an opportunity to grow good in this world and give back to the causes closest to our hearts—things like supporting military veterans and their families, safeguarding the welfare of animals, championing music education, and uplifting those within our community. When we realized we could make that dream our reality, The Hardy Fund was born. Now, we are proudly able to offer flexible support when and where it is needed most. We pray that we are in the process of creating a legacy of compassion that will continue to make an impact long after us.
Looking back, was there a specific moment or experience that made you want to use your platform to give back in this way?
We wake up every single day and are reminded of just how truly blessed we have been in our lives. And because of that, it is not only our joy but our responsibility to pay those blessings forward to as many people as possible. So, when we had the right opportunity, creating The Hardy Fund felt like a natural way to pour that same love and support back into others.
The Hardy Fund has already made a meaningful impact on so many lives. What has been the most rewarding part of that journey for each of you?
Having the opportunity to see when, where, how, and who these donations are supporting is more rewarding than I can really put into words. The Hardy Fund is literally changing peoples’ lives and we are blessed enough to be able to witness that! For me, the most rewarding part, so far, has been supplying our most vulnerable, local babies with donor breast milk through The Mothers’ Milk Bank Southeast. From our donation of “The Rosie Fund,” we have been able to supply $45,000 of life-changing nutrients to the babies that need it most.
During CMA Fest, you partnered with Trend Management to host a special event benefiting The Hardy Fund. Why was it important to create an event that combined great music with a meaningful cause?
First of all, we are still so honored to have been included in this unbelievable event with Trend! Ted and Dede Raad share our same vision of community and giving back—and throwing a fabulous party—so it was really a match made in Heaven. Our goal was to create something both entertaining and impactful and, thankfully, I think we did just that. I am so proud to say that we were able to raise more than $500,000 for Unlimited Play via The Hardy Fund! These funds will be put towards the construction of the first all-inclusive playground in the Nashville area for handicap kids. Every child deserves a place to feel welcome, have fun, and play without barriers, and this playground will serve as that place for them.
The event brought together so many artists, industry friends, and fans. What did it mean to see that level of support for something so personal to you?
It meant everything to us! We say this all the time, but there is truly nothing like the country music community. Country music is uniquely filled with the most humble, generous, kind people and we are honored to call them our friends. Even beyond that, our family, friends, and Trend community showed up in ways that filled our hearts to the brim. The generosity we experienced that night will never be forgotten. The support and love we were shown is something we'll never take for granted.
As a surprise, HARDY brought out some of country music's biggest names throughout the night! What was your favorite moment from the event?
I don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone, but there was a moment on stage when Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and Ella Langley joined Michael and Karen Fairchild on stage to sing “Better Man.” There wasn’t a single person in the room without full body chills! That was just one of the moments where you’re watching and thinking to yourself ‘oh my God, this is a once in a lifetime experience…’ Everyone was truly incredible that night, but that moment was a standout for sure.
You recently welcomed your daughter, Rosie! How has becoming parents changed the way you view success, priorities, and what truly matters?
Easy—the answer to everything is Rosie! What truly matters? Rosie. What are our priorities? Rosie. Having a happy, healthy, kind daughter is our view of success. Now, more than ever, we are reminded that family is everything. Without that, nothing else matters.
What have you learned about each other since becoming parents that has made you appreciate or admire one another even more?
Caleigh:
One of the greatest joys of my life has been watching Michael become a Dad—and a girl dad, at that! The love and gentle nature he shares with her absolutely melts my heart in ways I couldn’t even have fathomed. I have such a deep appreciation for him and the way he balances life on the road with coming home to be a present father and husband. It’s truly amazing.
Michael:
What I have learned about Caleigh is that she has a superhero level of patience with our daughter. It is extraordinary to watch. She has always been patient—especially with me—but to see the way she moves with so much positivity, patience, and kindness with our daughter is something I truly admire.
You've both built your careers here in Nashville. What is your favorite part about calling this city home?
We adore Nashville! This city has seen Michael through the last sixteen years of his life, the last seven of mine… and God willing, a lot of years of life to come. It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about Nashville when there are so many things that separate it from the rest… its unmatched music and songwriting culture, cuisine, natural beauty, southern charm, historical roots, nightlife… I could go on and on! I’ll just say we are proud to call this city home.
Michael, between selling out arenas, topping the charts, and headlining major festivals, what's been the most surreal moment of this chapter of your career?
Winning BMI Songwriter of the Year. It’s an award that’s strictly based on stats, and it was a time where I was in the gauntlet as an artist, so to be able to celebrate a completely artist-separate award as a songwriter… knowing that during my hardest years as an artist, I had also written the most hit songs for other people in a calendar year… was a huge victory for me. It paved the way for me realizing I can sustain both careers at once; a realization that I will carry with me forever because of that award.
How has Nashville's creative community helped shape both your careers and your relationship?
The only answer I have is: I will die on the hill that Nashville songwriters are the best songwriters in the world. I got to learn from all of these amazing songwriters. There were moments early in my career where I would tell Caleigh, ‘I know I haven’t made it yet, but I think I’ve learned from the best and I think that knowledge is gonna take me somewhere.’ Caleigh’s confidence and support in that statement alone was a huge part in our relationship. I appreciated so much that she believed in me and what I saw for us. She never doubted me. Now, nearly ten years later when I look back, I am so thankful that she trusted me and my confidence that I owe to the creative songwriting community in Nashville.
Caleigh, you've had a front-row seat to HARDY’s journey from the beginning. What has it been like watching his career evolve into what it is today?
Incredible. There isn’t a single person more deserving of this success than him. I have watched him work like a dog for years, with more passion and character than anyone I know. He has made songwriting history, bent music genres, inspired new generations of artists, sold out tours, been an incredible dad… all while staying true to himself through this whole process. His journey inspires me everyday.
What do you hope your daughter will someday learn from watching the way you've approached your careers, your family, and giving back?
More than anything, I hope she puts kindness first and understands the importance of loving people well. I hope she sees that success isn't just about accomplishments, it's about how you treat others, how you show up for your family, and how you use whatever platform you've been given to make a positive impact. If we can raise her to know how blessed she is and that it’s her responsibility to grow good in this world, then we will have done our jobs.
