The Smokey Griddle

Supporting local restaurants!

If you have not ever been to Smokey Griddle for breakfast / brunch, add it to your TO DO list. Like many others who fell in love with Williamsburg, Carlos Segovia came to visit his brother Raul here from California and liked it so much he ended up staying. Working in various restaurants around town, he always dreamed of owning his own restaurant here because it is a beautiful place to live and raise a family! His last employment was manager at Chick-Filet before opening Smokey Griddle in June of  2013.

Carlos grew up working in the food industry with his parents and 5 siblings in the family bakery. Carlos learned a strong work ethic at a very young age. Karlos and his wife Lissette met in college 23 years ago. They actually went to the same high school, but never met since the school was so large. Their two sons are Andrews 20 and Jerimiah 16.

“January and February 2020 were two really good months for us until COVID 19 hit. It is destroying a lot of businesses, mostly the restaurant and hospitality industry as we all know. Thank God, we have been able to survive during this difficult time! We have been getting a lot of support from our local customers ordering their food to go or dining in whenever they can. Some of them are leaving big tips too!  We also signed up with the Door Dash delivery service to spread out our carry out business. It has been very good, more than we expected. I did some research about other delivery services here in town but Door Dash is the one the people use the most in this area.”

“We are all hoping that 2021 is going to be a better year, particularly for the restaurant business.  Once people feel more safe with the vaccination, they will start eating out more! I can’t wait until we can use our dining room at full capacity. However, the most important thing right now is to keep our employees and customers safe following the CDC guidance."

This pandemic has taught me even more how important are our local customers because they are always there when we need them the most.”

Thank-you Williamsburg for your patronage!
