Thrive Through Movement

Push past your limits to reclaim strength, mobility, and confidence with SHINE Pilates

Prioritizing your health isn’t selfish—it’s essential. And if your current routine isn’t giving you the results you want, it’s time to switch things up.

Shanna Hein didn’t realize she was on a downward spiral until she hit rock bottom. Her body felt like lead every time she climbed stairs, and her joints ached constantly. At first, she blamed herself, but a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis revealed the real culprit: her hormones. Although there’s no cure, she refused to give up, and joining a health club set her on the path to wellness.

She tried lifting weights with a trainer who, upon recognizing her discouragement, suggested she see a nutritionist and explore a different form of strength training.

“For three months while he was out, I worked with another trainer in the Pilates room,” says Hein. “After weight training, I would feel exhausted and sore. I’d need two or three days of recovery. But when I did a Pilates workout, it always felt restorative. It didn’t hurt my joints nearly as much.”

Hein quickly got hooked on Pilates, which reshaped her body in a softer, more feminine way.

She was inspired to get certified herself and was teaching at Life Time when the pandemic hit. Scraping together just enough money to buy a few machines, she started training from her home under CDC protocols. By the time studios reopened, she knew it was sink or swim. With a shoestring budget and a lot of faith, she found a 600-square-foot storefront to house SHINE Pilates.

Over three years later, Hein moved into a bigger, long-dreamed-of space. There, she continues to share Joseph Pilates’s teaching: in 10 sessions, you’ll feel a difference; in 20, you’ll see a difference; in 30, you’ll have a whole new body.

“There’s no excuse to becoming your best self. The only barrier is what you have in your mind—your own hesitations, insecurities, and preconceived notions,” says Hein. “There’s no reason why we can’t take you from the very bottom, and there’s no reason why you can’t build yourself up to fitness.”

SHINE Pilates keeps it personal, especially during private sessions. Hein and her instructors make sure each workout addresses your body’s needs so that you can run or pick up your child again without pain.

In 2026, SHINE Pilates is expanding its services to become a true one-stop wellness shop. Hein has already integrated an InBody scale—a full-body composition scanner—so clients can track progress easily, included in every membership. She’s also excited to add metabolic conditioning tools to monitor heart rate and maximize fat burn efficiently.

“The satisfaction that I see in my clients and the quality of their life means everything,” says Hein. “It’s that ‘I can do the things I love again that I thought I was going to have to give up’ that I never get tired of hearing. It gives my life purpose.”
