One of the best holidays of the year is upon us — Friendsgiving! If you’ve never celebrated Friendsgiving before, this is your sign to give it a try. Yes, traditional holidays are often centered around family, but what about the family you choose yourself? Spending time with your relatives is important and always will be, but carving out space to gather with your closest friends will leave you feeling so full of love and life you’ll want to make it a yearly tradition.
And if you don’t have a Friendsgiving to attend this year, consider this your challenge: be the host. Hosting can feel like a daunting task, but hopefully, we can take some of the weight off your shoulders. We have gathered some amazing local businesses that will take your Friendsgiving to the next level!
- First things first, fall decorations! One decoration we think is a must is a pretty centerpiece. One of our favorite ways to incorporate a bold centerpiece is with floral arrangements. Floral arrangements are a great way to spruce up your space, but I feel they get slightly neglected outside of the spring and summer months. Fall-themed bouquets are stunning and will bring so much warmth and life into your home. We recommend going to Lulu’s of Argyle! Lulu’s can create vibrant and on-theme floral arrangements for the fall. We believe these floral arrangements will take the stage at your party! They can also deliver, so even if you can't be in two places at once, your flowers can!
 - Another key component of a great Friendsgiving is, of course, the food. Something my friends and I do is a potluck dinner for Friendsgiving. I’ve found this is not only helpful for the host, but it’s also a great way to feel connected to your friends. This alone will create great memories, and who knows, you may find your new favorite dish! As the host, a great way to easily provide something yummy for your guests is by getting a charcuterie board. Everyone loves a good charcuterie board, and it's the perfect appetizer to offer as people arrive and chat. We recommend checking out Boards & Beyond by Trish for gorgeous charcuterie options. If you don’t have time to cook with all your other hosting responsibilities, Trish and her delectable boards have you covered.
 - Speaking of yummy food, no party is complete without a treat at the end of the night! I don’t know about you, but I always look forward to the desserts around the holiday season. Not only do I get to indulge in my family’s traditional desserts that I know and love, but I also adore trying my loved ones' traditional Thanksgiving desserts. To save you the hassle and mess of baking right before you have company visiting, head down to Everett & Elaine to pick up a delicious pie before your party. Everett & Elaine have several handcrafted pies to choose from (which all look delicious), and if you’re not a pie person, they also have gourmet cookies for you to choose from!
 - For those who have a passion for fashion, we didn’t want to leave you without a new boutique to browse. For some, the best part of fall is the fall outfits. If you want to find some new fall items for your closet, or a brand new outfit for your Friendsgiving party, stop by River Bleu in Northlake! Shopping local is a great option; not only will you be supporting those in your community, but you can find unique pieces to add to your wardrobe.
